David Reid, a Ph.D. student in Dr. Sudipta Seal’s research group, has been named a finalist for the 2012 AVS National Student Award for his outstanding contribution in nanotechnology research. He will receive a cash award of $500.

The final competition will occur on Oct. 31, 2013, where David will deliver a 20-minute talk. The overall winner will receive a certificate and an additional $1,000.

This is David’s second AVS award. He previously won the prestigious AVS Graduate Research Award that recognizes and encourages excellence in graduate studies in sciences and technologies of interest to AVS. Approximately 10 GRA awards are given annually. He also received the AVS Nanoscience Division Student Award at the AVS Annual Meeting. He advanced through three final presentations and interviews to win these awards.
